As UFC 259 is on the horizon,  history will be made after Saturday night. Three very interesting title fights are approaching

The first fight on the main card for UFC 259 will be for the men’s bantamweight division. The challenger is Aljamain Sterling. Sterling holds an outstanding record of 19-3. Sterling won his “title fight” shot after beating Cory Sandhagen by submission in only the first round. 

Sterling will be facing Petr Yan in UFC 259, Yan stripped the bantamweight belt from Jose Aldo due to a knockout in the fifth round in July of 2020. This will be Yan’s first time defending the belt, repping a record of 15-1 going into the fight..

For the co-main event, the women’s featherweight belt will be up for grabs. Amanda Nunes, the women’s featherweight and bantamweight champion, will come into the fight with a record of 20-4. Nunes has won all five of her last championship defenses. 

Megan Anderson, an amazing orthodox fighter who specializes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will be attempting to retain the belt against Amanda Nunes. Anderson last fought in UFC 169, where she beat Norma Dumont by knockout in the first round. Anderson walks into the apex ring with a record of 11-4, with six of those wins coming from knockouts

For the final match of the evening, Israel Adesanya, the middleweight champion, will head up to the light heavyweight division to fight Jan Blachowicz. Blachowicz is the light heavyweight champion with a respected record of 27-8. Blachowicz is a +225 underdog in the odds against Adesanya. 

Adesanya is on a rising legacy, (20-0) trying to stretch his talents by going up and down in weight classes. As he is a very well rounded fighter, Adesanya is known for his precision in striking and his long lasting stamina. Adesanya has defended his belt four times, all being successful.
This will be Blachowicz’s first title defense. Sinceit will be his first time defending the belt, this could stir up extra nerves in the champion. According to cbsports.com, this fight is predicted to be a “striking heavy” fight. Both fighters have well rounded wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but specialize in the standing fights. 

Not normally do you see such a stacked UFC main card, as title fights are usually spread out. UFC 259 will have a very interesting night, finally fighting back in Las Vegas, Nevada after over a year in fight island Abu Dhabi. Coming off of the last huge UFC pay per view show, Poirer vs McGregor 2, selling 1.6 million pay per view buys, these three title fights on the same card will do serious business.
