Prom in the Roaring 20’s

Gabby Flores and Joey Padfield were crowned Prom Queen and King.

Prom kicked off with their Gatsby theme on April 26 at the Panos Hall at the Greek Orthodox Church on Hacienda. This year’s prom theme was based off of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s timeless novel from the jazz age, “The Great Gatsby.” The ballroom was flooded with candy, antique refreshments, and lots of dancing.

“The Great Gatsby” takes place during the roaring 1920’s, a notorious age of glamorous partying, drinking, and a new form of partying. The dance really succeeded pulling off this theme with their vintage decorations and jazzy atmosphere.

“The Prom theme was amazing, I think Student Council did a great job organizing it,” said senior Nicole Rafay.

“I was so surprised when I was crowned Prom Queen!” said senior Gabby Flores. “It was such an honor to be appreciated by my class.”

Senior Joey Padfield was crowned prom king along with Flores. Padfield, a student council member and athlete had a surprised smile on his face when they announced his name.

So what did the students do after the Gatsby party? Junior Alexa Hunt and her prom group went to Texas De Brazil for a nice dinner afterwards. Most students went to the Linq, Las Vegas’ newest shopping center on the strip, and rode the high roller. Before prom, many went to Summerlin parks to get their glitzy photos taken.

This year’s prom theme turned out to be one memorable night
