Las Vegas (Clark County) is known for “The Strip” featuring all the hotels and buildings with unique architecture as well as the Bellagio Fountains. “The Strip” is known to be 4.2 miles long but to get around it pedestrian bridges help tourists and residents get around quicker. They are built in with glass and help see all of Vegas’s unique attractions. Many are known to stop on the bridges such as street performers performing and people in general standing on the bridges. Clark County is preventing anybody from standing, performing, and stopping on the bridges.
Officials are proposing to everyone, “Keep moving.” Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman also says.
Many street performers, some being there for years, are against the ordinance of this. When Formula 1 was in town all the bridges were blocked and covered so nobody could stare into the streets, some continue to blame Formula 1 for this change.
Fox 5 Vegas had interviewed some street performers, and one musician performing for 15 years on The Strip was interviewed.
“At one point in time this was my full-time income. I was going through a time in my life where I was kind of transitioning between college and the real world.” The musician says.
Street performers are known to be talented, some do this to make a living, and many are known to have been performing for years. While many are against this, several say it’s a good decision because on some days/nights these bridges get extremely packed and people block out ways to get off. Fox 5 Vegas had also caught a different point of view of this situation.
“With people spectating to see what was going on in the races and taking the film of the bridges, I think they have a reason to say everyone has to keep moving.” Summers says.
Overall the decision is official and has passed despite the mixed opinions of everyone. While this decision may anger many, it does not involve people stopping to take pictures.
