Avatar: The Way of Water, was released on December 16 of 2022 and has since become one of the most successful movies. It has gained over $2 billion at the box office and received critical acclaim from critics and audiences. This movie goes on for over three hours, and is known as a stunning piece of cinema, receiving positive ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie takes us on a journey to the amazing world of Pandora. The movie features incredible visuals, an engaging story line, and an amazing cast of characters with an important message about the environment. The music and soundtrack are also impressive and help to enhance the viewing experience.

It tells the story of a group of Na’vi warriors on a quest to save the planet from humans. The movie centers around the idea of balance and how the Na’vi’s connection to the planet and its energy can be used to restore harmony.

We pick up several years after 2009’s Avatar. On the distant world Pandora, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) has gone native, raising a family with Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) after shedding his human skin to inhabit his alien avatar.  When the “sky people” of Earth come looking for a fight, among other things, the Sullys are forced to flee to distant archipelagos where the water tribes live. Here, they must abandon their tree hugging lifestyle and learn the ways of the water people, who have thicker tails and are a bit more turquoise.

The Metkayina tribe are led by Tonowari (Cliff Curtis) and his partner, Ronal (Kate Winslet), whose kids don’t get along with the Sully family, setting the scene for a teen movie style followed by a little bit of  bromance bonding. It follows Jake as he learns the ways of the Na’vi and discovers their connection to the planet. He also learns about his connection to the planet and how he can use it to save Pandora. The movie is filled with thrilling action scenes and awe moments. The story line of the movie is engaging and well paced. 

The Way of Water is a beautiful movie with an important message about the environment. It is a movie that is visually stunning and meaningful, and it is definitely worth watching.
