In a recent press conference, Clark County School District Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara announced home team spectators will be allowed to attend spring sports and performing arts events.

For intermural and fall sports, where students are already practicing and competing, spectators will not be allowed to attend, Dr. Jara announced.

A reporter for KTNV-Channel 13 asked Dr. Jara what the rationale was for allowing spring sports spectators, but not fall or intermural sports, with the Superintendent replying:

“This is all about our children. This is about our kids and the opportunity to participate in an intramural activity. This has been our focus, this has been my focus. The spring sports are a little different. They’re competing with other schools. Our fall sports will have an intersquad. They’re within their own school. They’ll have their fall season in the fall of 21-22.”

Capacity limits will be up to individual schools to decide, and masks and social distancing will be required at all events.

In the same press conference, Dr. Jara also announced that nine randomly selected high schools would be participating in an “intermural jamboree” later this month at Allegiant Stadium. Spring Valley Grizzly Football was not selected to participate.
