On Friday, March 25, 2011, varsity football players Nicholas Overcast, Austyn Wallace, Timothy Craig, Michael Dyer, Javelle Valley, and Jordan Cox signed football scholarships in the presence of family and friends. Nicholas, Austyn, Timothy, and Michael signed with Victor Valley College, while Jordan signed with the College of the Desert and Javelle signed with the University of Idaho.
“It doesn’t really matter what college or university I go to. I just want to play football…that is my main priority,” said Austyn Wallace.
Nicolas is very passionate about football and hopes to be a coach someday after college. With his positive experience in the football program, he hopes to coach college football to share his experience and skill from high school and college and bring his knowledge to the playing field.
Meanwhile, Timothy Craig wants to major in athletic medicine to help other athletes be successful, whether they play football or any other sport.
As a whole, all of these promising young men are very excited to move forward to college and can’t wait to start their lives as young adults. Echoing the sentiments of all of the players, Timothy Craig said, “I feel really accomplished. It’s my time to really be a man.”
