Week five of the National Football League wasn’t the best week to our head varsity football coach Marcus Teal, assistant varsity coach Robert Cutts and principal Tam Larnerd.
Teal and Cutts went 1-3, both only being correct on the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars game. Larnerd wound up missing on all of his picks, going 0-4 to start his campaign.
“I was just as surprised as anyone with all the upsets,” coach Teal said. “I think it is the NFL, any given Sunday things like this can happen and normally do. The NFL is going the way of parity now, and teams are getting better. So, you are going to see more weeks like this, in my opinion.”
The Grizzly Community Opinion will be added to the picks. The opinions expressed are of those who chose to react to the polls posted on the Instagram story of The Grizzly Growler.
Browns @ Steelers
Teal: “Well, to start the season I would have called this a blowout, now it’s looking like one of the best games of the weekend! AFC North slobber knocker.”
Steelers 31, Browns 24
Cutts: “I think the Steelers win here and become 5-0.”
Steelers 28 Browns 24
Larnerd: Steelers 30-17
Grizzly Community Opinion: 67% in favor of the Steelers
Falcons @ Vikings
Teal: Falcons are not soaring as high these days
Vikings 27, Falcons 14
Cutts: The Vikings lost a tight one on Sunday night against the Seahawks. They are a much better team than their record suggests. The Falcons just fired their head coach and are hungry for a win but have struggled closing out games.
Vikings 31 Falcons 28
Larnerd: Vikings 21-3
Grizzly Community Opinion: 59% in favor of the Vikings
Packers @ Buccaneers
Teal: “Two Hall of Fame QBs trying to make a statement (Brady being da man on a new team, Rodgers that he is da man), this is why I love the NFL.”
Packers 34, Buccaneers 24
Cutts: “Aaron Rodgers vs Tom Brady. A matchup of two of the best to ever do it. This should be a high scoring game.”
Packers 35 Buccaneers 31
Larnerd: Packers 24-17
Grizzly Community Opinion: 81% in favor of the Packers
Cardinals @ Cowboys
Teal: “Both these teams are going in opposite directions and the Cowboys are trending down! Cowboys defense is having a hard time stopping anyone, young gun Kyler Murray is playing well in year 2.”
Cardinals 24, Cowboys 17
Cutts: “The Cowboys lost Dak Prescott last week which is a huge blow to their offense. Andy Dalton takes the reins and they will rely heavily on Ezekiel Elliott and their run game the rest of the season. The Cardinals are 3-2 but have not beaten a team with a winning record. I think this one is closer than we think.”
Cardinals 24 Cowboys 21
Larnerd: Cardinals 38-0
Grizzly Community Opinion: 84% in favor of the Cowboys
