New Jersey based rock band My Chemical Romance announced that they would have a reunion tour, after almost 8 years of separation, on Oct. 31. Vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way performed their first gig called ”Return in Los Angeles” at the Shrine Expo Hall on December 20. Tickets went on sale on November 1 after being revealed on their social media outlets, and there are currently no other tour dates.
As fans are loving the 2000s emo throwback, Twitter is going wild with excitement and hope that this means more tours to come. Some hope comes from an unusual place… Joe Jonas. While his brother was rehearsing, Jonas claims that My Chemical Romance was rehearsing at the space next to them, even though My Chemical Romance was quick to dispell the rumors.
The actual concert started with their hit song “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” and continued with a mix from their 13 years of music. They ended their emotionally intense and nostalgic concert with their all-time hit song, “Welcome to the Black Parade” with a perfect conclusion to the most spectacular night. The whole concert was dedicated to their former manager Lauren Valencia, who passed away from cancer.
