After 3 months, Marvel and Sony have come to a new agreement to bring Tom Holland’s iconic web-slinging ‘Spider-Man’ back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

After Sony removed Spider-Man from the MCU because of budget disputes with Disney, the companies came up with another deal, giving superhero fans hope. After “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” had major success in the box office back in July, Sony left the previous deal, taking Spider-Man with them. The new deal would have included a co-ownership of Spider-Man with both companies making 50/50 since Disney was originally only making 5% of the box office profit. Sony denied that deal since Disney also made all the profit for the merchandise sold, according to Marvel Studios News. 

Fans lost yet another iconic character and were left worried about how Spider-Man’s story would make sense without legally being able to mention other MCU characters, who had made a huge impact in his story. 

Tom Holland became everyone’s hero when he pitched a new deal. Though the deal is just to complete the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” trilogy, many stay hopeful for the spider’s future in the MCU.

The film is scheduled to release on July 16, 2021. This new deal will also have Kevin Feige produce the film alongside Sony’s Amy Pascal. Disney will profit 25% of the movies box office and additionally, the deal will allow Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in both Sony spider-verse movies and continue to be apart of the MCU, according to Gizmodo.
