Cimarron-Memorial High School defeated the Grizzlies 9-5 yesterday to avoid elimination. The Spartans jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first inning removing the Grizzlies starter after just 2\3 innings pitched.
Cimarron put up two zeroes in the top half of the second and third inning and continued swinging the bats adding another 3 runs to extend the lead 9-2.
“Nothing was going right in the first two innings for us,” Catcher Exsum Smith said.
After a 2 RBI double from MItchell Otis in the fourth inning the Grizzlies didn’t roll over and continues to battle as pitcher, Michael Marraro, threw 4 scoreless innings keeping the game within reach.
Starter, Seth Hoffman, for the Spartans went 5 innings giving 5 runs to earn the win as senior Trevor Doyle got the hold to end the game.

“We learned a lot from this season and we will be back next year and we will be better,” Center Fielder Chase Rodriguez said.
