All season athletes Jacob and Jeremiah Teems-Robinson are well known at Spring Valley, not only for their good grades, but for their success as athletes over the past four years. Both brothers serve as cross country captains in the fall, storm the basketball court as forwards during the Winter and compete in volleyball during the Spring.
“Being an athlete is such an important aspect to my life because without being one I wouldn’t of been taught work ethic, how to be a leader, and healthy life choices”, said Jeremiah.
Being involved at school, staying athletic, and building character are all motivation for the Teems-Robinson brothers to stay as busy as they do.
Both brothers said they are working to receive a white letter before graduation. The white letter is awarded to athletes who play a sport during every season for all four years
So far, Jeremiah has earned three student athlete awards and is reaching for his next ones in cross country and volleyball. Jeremiah has also received the All State Academic award his junior year for volleyball and cross country. Jacob has one the All State Academic awards his sophomore and junior year for volleyball and cross country.
“My goal is to be the first student with four years of student athlete of the year. I wanna make history somehow at this school”, said Jeremiah.
Keeping up with their high grades they each learned that time management is necessary to be successful. Jacob and Jeremiah understand that urgent responsibilities are a must when deciding what comes first on their to do list.
“Time management for me is basically do what the best and most urgent need of attention is first”, Jacob said.
Since they are both seniors, they have considered trying out for a college team.
Jeremiah and Jacob both agree that if they get the opportunity then they will for go for it.
Jeremiah states that the cross country team did lose once, due to them having heat exhaustion during their race. There were going against Durango, Arbor View, and Clark High School. This is a story they will never forget, but it did not stop them from competing after that.
“To go back on that same field or that same track that basically defeated you, to come back and just not worry about it and just do better next time.” said Jacob.
