Women’s Volleyball Begins Season with Best Efforts

Though the women’s Volleyball league play only started last week, all three teams are working hard to make this the greatest season Spring Valley Volleyball has ever had.

The women volleyball team started their pre-season on September 10th,  against Clark High School. Varsity had an astonishing performance beating Clark, and then Valley High school, two days later on September 12th. On September 17th, Varsity defeated Rancho High School improving their season record to 3-0, and remaining undefeated. On the weekend of September 21st, Varsity won second place in The Western Warriors Classic, losing a close game to Western High School with a score of 16-18 in the final set.

The Junior Varsity team won their  first game against Clark, and  second game against Valley High School as well, but losing to Rancho High School in three games. The freshmen team barely lost to Clark, and Rancho however, winning against Valley High School.

“My goal this season is to become a better volleyball player, and for this team to make it to the playoffs,” said varsity player Courtney Lance. All three women’s volleyball teams share the common goal to be better players and to make the Grizzlies Women’s Volleyball program the best that it can be.

Under new leadership, Head Coach Lisa Keith promotes the women’s teams full of positive play with a competitive edge. Coach Jill Herzig is the assistant coach and returns for her fourth year over the B-Team.

Coach Keith plans to make the most of her promising young ladies. Over the summer, eleven or the varsity girls attended a UNLV team camp for two days to learn various skills and teamwork.
